Dark chocolate, peanut butter swirls, and a crunch of nuts and seeds to curb any sweet tooth! A perfect mix of sweet and salty that melts in your mouth, make this dark chocolate peanut butter bark just the way you like it.
The perfect sweet tooth snack
So often as a Registered Dietitian I get labeled as a girl that just sits around grinding her teeth on kale and granola all day…couldn’t be FURTHER from the truth! Which is ultimately why I made this food blog!
Let’s get real, when we’re looking in the trail mix bins at the grocery store, we’re looking for the ones with chocolate bits in them! Who’s with me?? And then, of course, something salty, something with some crunch, and a little bit of color to make it fun. Well, I’ve taken all the things we love about those sweet and salty snacks and put a little spin on it.
Different goodies to try in your chocolate peanut butter bark
This dark chocolate peanut butter bark is quite impossible to screw up, so don’t be afraid to make it your own. Here are some other fillers to try in your bark:
- Coconut flakes
- Got a peanut allergy? Try a different nut butter such as almond butter!
- Craisins
- Pistachios
- Rolled oats
- Espresso beans
- Granola
- Crushed peppermint
- White macadamia nuts
How to store your bark
Since the base of this snack is chocolate, there’s a good chance of it melting! To avoid that sticky mess, once you’ve broken up the bark, throw it in a sealed container and store in the fridge until you need a sweet treat. This also makes for a great frozen treat on hot summer days! Be sure your bark hasn’t softened before sticking in the freezer.
Here’s my recipe, but I challenge you to make it your own!
Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bark
Ingredients
- 1 bag dark chocolate chips
- 2 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (smooth)
- 1/2 cup almond slivers
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
- 1 tsp coarse salt
Instructions
- Line a shallow 9×13 baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, add chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue to microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between, until chips are completely melted and mixture is smooth and creamy.
- In a small dish, microwave peanut butter on high for 15seconds, then stir (peanut butter should be just softened and creamy).
- Pour melted chocolate mixture onto prepared baking sheet and spread until even.
- Spoon peanut butter in little heaps onto chocolate, evenly throughout. With a butter knife, swirl the peanut butter from top to bottom in the chocolate mixture.
- Sprinkle almond slivers, walnuts, pumpkins seeds, and coarse salt on top.
- Place baking sheet in the refrigerator for 1 hour and allow to set.
- Once bark has set, break into pieces and enjoy this sweet treat!
Can I use chocolate bakers non sweet instead of chocolate chips
Hi Laura I’m hoping to make this chocolate bark, can I use dark chocolate bars instead of chips? If so how much, in ounces, preferably. Thank you
